# Prompt Kit — Find Your Model Fit (3 prompts: agent edition, conversational, quick)

# Prompt Kit: Find Your Model Fit

Most model pickers make you pick a task off a chart. This one listens to how you actually work — then names the *family* of model that fits you, when a second one should take over, and how you'll know within two weeks if it's wrong. Three prompts: an agent edition that reads your real working surfaces instead of taking your word for it, a full conversational interview, and a 30-second quick version for people who won't sit still for one.

## How to use this kit

**Prompt 3 is the point of this kit.** Model Fit takes your word for how you work. Prompt 3 goes and checks — it reads your Slack, your calendar, your revision history, and tells you where your self-report and the evidence disagree. You are the least reliable witness to how you work. If your agent has read access to your real tools, start there.

If it doesn't, start where you can:

- **Prompt 1** if you have five minutes and want to talk through how you work. It interviews you, then names your family.
- **Prompt 2** if you won't sit for an interview. Paste one paragraph of ramble, get a family back. Same logic, no questions.
- **Prompt 3** if your agent is connected to your actual work surfaces — Slack, Linear/Jira/Asana/Notion, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, a repo. It doesn't take your word for anything.

Run any of these in a capable chat model like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Prompt 3 requires an agent build with read access to your tools.

## The two families

All three prompts sort you into one of two families. This is the daily-driver decision — the model you live in.

- **The briefer** — you know the edges going in; you want a model that takes the whole instruction seriously and obeys corrections literally *(5.x-style)*
- **The finder** — the hard part is figuring out what you're even making; you want a model that reads between the lines and finds the angle before it drafts *(Mythos/Fable-style)*

### Who's in each family right now

The prompts deliberately never name a model version. Versions churn; the families don't. But you need somewhere to land, so here's the map as of July 2026:

### The rotation — options, not identities

Two families, and then a bench. The models below are things you *reach for* when the job calls for it. None of them is a daily driver, and none of them is a personality. Sorting yourself into "I am a person who checks sources" is how you end up living in a model you only needed on Tuesday.

- **Grok** — when access to the source is the whole job, and what people are saying right now is the answer you need.
- **Luna** — when the hard judgment is finished and you're running a high volume of clear, checkable work. Speed and cost start to matter more than depth.
- **GLM 5.2** — the cheap specialist option when the task is narrow and well-defined.

Every prompt in this kit names your second model and the exact situation it takes over. That second model usually comes from the rotation. Use it there, and go back to your family when the work gets hard again.

## Prompt 1 — Find Your Model Fit (Conversational)

**Job:** Interviews you about how you actually work, then names your model family, your backup, and the tell that proves it right or wrong.

**When to use:** You have five minutes and you're willing to talk through a piece of real work instead of picking a category off a menu.

**What you'll get:** One family named and justified, a second model with the exact situation it takes over, a two-week falsifiable test, and an honest line on what the interview couldn't see.

**What the AI will ask you:** First it asks you to ramble about your work — what drains you, what makes you feel sharp, how you give instructions, where projects stall. Then four short follow-ups, one at a time.

     b. How do you get an AI moving — a long detailed brief up front, or reacting to
        drafts as they come?
     c. When it went wrong, did you want it to obey your correction exactly, or
        understand the larger point behind the correction?
     d. Is the hard part of your work executing a clear brief, or figuring out what is
        actually true under a mess of conflicting inputs?

3. If any answer is vague, ask one sharpening question before moving on. Do not
   guess.

4. Produce the output below. Nothing before it.

   The concrete situation from their own description where the primary is the wrong
   call. This is usually a model from the rotation rather than the other family: a
   search-first model when access to the source is the whole job, a cheap fast model
   when the judgment is done and the volume is high, a narrow specialist when the task
   is narrow. Name the situation, not just the model. A rotation model is something
   they reach for, never where they live.

4. THE TELL
   One falsifiable sentence: how they'll know within two weeks if this is wrong.

5. WHAT THIS DOESN'T COVER
   One honest line naming what the interview couldn't see. Everything you learned came
   from what this person chose to tell you about themselves. Say what that leaves out.

## Prompt 2 — Find Your Model Fit (Quick)

**Job:** One paragraph of ramble in, one family out. No interview.

**When to use:** You won't sit for six questions. You'd rather type for thirty seconds and get an answer.

**What you'll get:** Your family, the one situation your backup takes over, and the tell — all in under 150 words.

**What the AI will ask you:** Just to paste one honest paragraph about how you work. If you give it a job title, it will ask for the paragraph.

## Prompt 3 — Find Your Model Fit (Agent Edition)

**Job:** Reads your actual working surfaces, compares what you *say* about how you work against what the evidence shows, and names your model family from the evidence.

**When to use:** Only when your agent already has read access to your real tools. You are the least reliable witness to how you work — your Slack, your calendar, and your revision history know better. Point the agent at them.

**Requires:** an agent with read access to at least two of: Slack, Linear (or Jira, Asana, Notion), Gmail, Calendar, Drive, a repo.

**Runtime:** most of it is the agent reading. Give it room.

**One thing to know going in:** your agent almost certainly can't read your actual AI chat history, which is the one surface that would settle this outright. So it works from proxies — how you write to people, how your documents move, where your time goes. Good proxies, but proxies. The prompt is built to tell you which of its findings are direct and which are inferred, and to let you overrule the inferred ones.

**What the AI will ask you:** Four self-report questions first, then it inventories what it can read and goes looking. It will tell you where your self-report and the evidence disagree.

  c. When it goes wrong, do you want it to obey your correction exactly, or

  d. Is the hard part of your work executing a clear brief, or figuring out what is
     actually true under a mess of conflicting inputs?

STEP 2. INVENTORY. Tell the user which surfaces you can actually read. Name them.
If you have fewer than two, say the read will be thin and let them decide whether to
continue.

STEP 3. GO LOOK. Gather evidence against the same four axes. Use whatever surfaces
you have.

  IMPORTANT — DIRECT EVIDENCE VS. PROXY. You almost certainly cannot read this
  person's AI chat history, which is the only surface that would directly show how
  they prompt. Everything you find about their prompting style is therefore a PROXY:
  an inference from how they write to humans, not an observation of how they write to
  models. Label every finding as either DIRECT (you observed the thing itself) or
  PROXY (you inferred it from something adjacent). Do not present a proxy as an
  observation.

  AXIS A, knew it vs found it:
    Document revision history. How many substantive revisions before the thesis stops
    moving. Do ticket or task titles change meaning partway through, or do they land
    once and stay. This is largely DIRECT.

  AXIS B, briefer vs reactor:
    The user's OWN message length in their sent mail and their Slack. Median, longest,
    shortest. Someone who writes eleven-word Slack messages may well not write
    400-word prompts — but they might, because Slack rewards brevity and a prompt
    doesn't. This axis is a PROXY. Report what you found, say what it suggests, and
    ask the user directly whether it holds. Their answer wins.

  AXIS C, obey vs understand:
    How they phrase corrections. "No, use the Q3 number" is a different person from
    "the point is we cannot claim that yet." Count roughly how many of each. PROXY,
    but a strong one — how a person corrects a colleague usually survives contact
    with a model.

  AXIS D, execute vs figure out:
    Calendar split between decision meetings and heads-down production blocks.
    Mail and Slack threads spent reconciling conflicting information versus shipping
    something already agreed. Largely DIRECT.

For each axis, record what you found, the count or surface it came from, and whether
it is DIRECT or PROXY.

STEP 4. Produce the output below. Nothing before it. Nothing after it.

   it suggests, and ask them to confirm or overrule it. If they overrule it, take
   their answer and say in your verdict that you did.
   If everything matches, say so plainly. That is a real finding, not a failure.

4. YOUR FAMILY, AND WHY
   Name ONE of these two. Tie it to specific evidence, never to a benchmark score.
     - The briefer. Knows the edges going in. Wants a model that takes the whole
       instruction seriously, keeps going, and obeys corrections literally.

- But do not overclaim either. A proxy is not an observation. Mark it, and let the
  user overrule it.
- Do not turn a task into an identity. Evidence that someone looks things up often is
  evidence about their tasks, not about their family. Put it in section 5, not
  section 4.
- Do not recommend a subscription plan or a model tier. That is a different decision.
  Name a family only.
- If a surface is missing, say so. Do not fill the gap with inference and present it
  as observation.
